SAINT PAUL—Minnesota State Auditor and Governor candidate Rebecca Otto today announced the hiring of leading political fundraiser Brooke Wallington as campaign Finance Director.
Wallington will be joining the existing Otto finance team of Rosa Colman, Erica Raphael and Michelle Allen, which has already put Otto’s campaign in a strong financial position to win the DFL endorsement, the DFL primary, and the Nov 2018 general election.
"I'm very excited to join Team Otto in support of one of America’s leading progressive woman candidates for Governor,” said Wallington. "Rebecca Otto cares about the same issues I do – a strong economy, equality of opportunity, single-payer healthcare, good jobs with livable wages, access to education, and a clean and healthy environment. As a Greater Minnesota native, I believe Rebecca Otto will be an incredible Governor for all Minnesotans."
Wallington most recently served as Finance Director for Saint Paul Councilmember Pat Harris’s 2017 mayoral campaign. In the three months after Wallington took over as Finance Director of Harris’s campaign, she raised more than 250 thousand dollars and organized twenty-six fundraising events. She oversaw all aspects of the Harris finance operation including fundraisers, e-mail and social media fundraising, and candidate call time.
“I am delighted Brooke has joined our team and am very excited to work with her to move our successful fundraising efforts to an even higher level,” said Otto Campaign Manager Jim Niland. “She is highly respected in Minnesota politics, and her fundraising numbers with Pat Harris’ campaign were very impressive.”
Wallington grew up near Fergus Falls, Minnesota and moved to Saint Paul to attend Hamline University. She graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Political Science and English. She began her political fundraising career working for NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota and at Senator Amy Klobuchar's campaign before directing the Harris campaign's finance operation.
